Departing from Guwahati and its temples, we will be visiting Tezpur, the oldest city of Assam. We will then reach the Ziro Valley and get to know the Apatani tribe, renown for the facial tattoos and nose plugs worn by their women.

We will be there for the Myoko festival, during which the Apatani  celebrate fertility and family bonds. We will then travel to Majuli Island to spend time with the Mising tribe, then stop at the Kaziranga Nature Reserve.

The Carnival in the mining town of Oruro is one of the most suggestive and emotional in the world: over 20 hours of exciting music and spectacular masks parading and dancing through the streets to end on their knees in the church to worship the Virgin of the Mine. We photograph the Trapani Easter Procession, a tradition over 300 years old. Groups of straining men parade through the streets of Trapani for 16 hours carrying on their shoulders incredibly heavy floats. We will be documenting their emotions and efforts.
